CMW Tracker installation: IIS or Windows Service
When installing CMW Tracker to your server, you can choose to run it as a Windows service, or as an IIS web-site.
Windows service installation:
use this option if you don’t have IIS installed on your PC. You will get the Comindware local web server, so all Comindware programs and components become available over the local network. After the installation, CMW Tracker will get the relevant port open in the Windows firewall and add the “Comindware Products” service to the Windows list of services.
IIS Installation:
When using Installation on IIS all Comindware programs and components become available over the local network and/or over the Internet if your server is public. Other benefits of IIS installation are full integration with Windows services like Active Directory, Windows embraced security tools, and the website transfer capability: You can transfer the CMW Tracker to another web server at any time. For example, transfer it to an outside data-center
No matter what installation type you prefer, you’ll need to select the port number to be used for CMW Tracker installation. By default, port 80 is used. If it is already taken, port 8081 will be used instead. However, you can set the port manually from the range of 1024 to 65535.
SSL for it: tick the SSL checkbox and all data will be transferred through HTTPS (port 443 will be used). After that, select the SSL certificate you pre-installed in the trusted root certificate store on the host operating system, in the “SSL Settings”.
Now just specify the path to the CMW Tracker database and click on the “Install” button to start the software installation.
